Brake Controller for 2020 5.7L RAM Laramie WithOUT Tow Package

Hey Folks, Love all the collaboration here. Got a question for anyone who knows a thing or two about RAMs as TV's... or is just generally smarter than me.

I have a 5000lb UVW Travel Trailer on order, and prepping my TV - a 2020 RAM 1500, 5.7Hemi (non-eco) LARAMIE CREW CAB 4X4, with the 3.92 axel. I DON'T have the tow package, which is why I kept the TT weight reasonable. My truck has a tow capacity of a little over 11,000lb. I got the Equalizer e4 hitch as well.

BUT, I need a brake controller. Right now, one easy answer is to get a Curt Echo electronic brake controller that plugs into the 7 way connector and connects to the truck's brakes - about $230. However I'm real curious whether anyone knows if the 2020 Laramie's as above (without tow package) are wired under the dash or steering wheel somewhere for an easy brake controller hookup?

I'm still researching the Curt thing, so I'm open to your feedback about it. But I'm also really interested if if my TV model is wired for it. And if so, how much it might be to have someone wire it.

It should be really easy to find. The brake controller connector for the harness should be directly above the brake pedal under the dash. I'm not sure on the 2020 (gen 5) Ram, but on the previous Gen 4 and 3 trucks, the connector was white and really easy to find.

They are all wired for this option for the factory controller though, if this will work with other controller connections you have to ask the mfg. of the controller. I'm happy with the factory brake controller.

Not real sure on a 2020 Ram, but on a 2017 the brake control connector is under the dash, over top of the gas pedal and a bit to the right. I use a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 and you can get a harness to plug into the OEM plug.
Here’s a video of the controller and instal... https://www.etrailer.com/tv-install-...500-90885.aspx

I had the factory controller installed on my 2018. the dealer had to put the sales code into the truck computer to make it work. In my opinion it works much better that the knee buster after market controllers. the 2020 controller looks very similar to my 2018 model. took the dealer less than a hour to install mine. it was part of the deal buying my truck.
