Brake wiring question

As I went under the trailer to fix something, I have noticed that only the right side drum/brake is wired, the left side has the wired trimmed.

Is that normal?

What do you mean by trimmed?
Cut, and loose wire?

It's look like intentionally trimmed back.
Now I wonder if the right side is routed through the axle to the left side and I just can't see it....

The brakes do work on both sides to best of my knowledge.

The power feed to the brakes comes down one side of the trailer.


Then ties to the brakes on that side and the wire that runs through the axle (T connection),


The wire through the axle then ties to the brakes on the other side of the trailer.


How neat each installer was on each side of the axle is a matter of crapsmanship.

They look like tails cut off, but they are not - they run through the axle.

A common source of trouble is if there is no grommet to protect the wires in the hole where they enter and exit the axle.
I know folks who have had problems and just reroute the new wire on the outside with some proper wire protection.
