Brand new eagle water problem
Hi, newbie here, but not new to camping, we just received our 2014 eagle 334 rbts and upon filling the huge 86 gallon water tank, I noticed once its full. at which how do you know, it hits the overflow and then starts poring out of the overflow tubes underneath, and starts a siphoning process, draining water out of the tank to about 1/2 tank, I have had other trailers, and when they were full, it would start spitting back out of the filler neck, I called the dealer, and someone else has brought there rig in with the same problem, but they don't know what to do to solve this, anybody have this problem? thanks in advance Rick

Your dealer should be able to get a speedy answer from Jayco on that. I have never filled mine but once and it did not do that after it finished "burping".

Cut the overflow tubes shorter and see if that helps. Mine were quite long. They are made out of "flex" so they are quite easy to cut. I also installed cheap plastic valves so that I can turn them off so they don't slosh out water going down the road. From what I have read many people have done this. Take the piece you cut off to the hardware store and see what fittings you need to install a valve(s)

Welcome to JOF
Since you just picked up the TT, I would let the dealer and Jayco resolve the issue before making any repairs on your own...., but do report back on what they did to resovle the issue.
Oh, I agree a 86 gallon fresh water tank is "huge"!

I had the same problem. Threads on here about it. I extended my vents and added caps so I can make it to the site with all my water..

what size is that hose? Caps or a valve is a great idea.

Pretty sure it was 1/2 inch. I just bought a cheap 10 foot white rv hose and cut it in 2 lenghts and used double barbs to attach it to the exsiting hoses and ran them to near the fill hole. Then I clamped replacement male ends and used caps to close them when full. Really not something I should have to do on a new camper but one of the reasons we bought it was for the large water capacity and its Kinda useless if you cant fill it and make it to your site with all the water

I fill mine at campgounds but never pull it full because thats about a 1/2 ton of water which is a siginificant portion of load cap. But I have never lost any water after filling.

One of my 'summer projects' is to drop the under belly and inspect the tank(s) installation. I've heard of some filled tanks falling down due to poor installation and/or hardware.
As long as I'm in there, I'm going to look at the 'plumbing' of the vent hoses too. I also have issues with water siphoning out the hoses that hang out the belly causing me to loose a significant portion of my water supply.
As I recall, I had the same problem with our 2005 Jay Flight LGT. I noticed a vent fitting with a little screen over the opening next to the filler cap on the side of the camper. I rerouted the vent hose that hung out the bottom of the camper and hooked it up to the vent fitting and my water siphoning problems stopped.

Ran into the same problem when de-winterizing & filling the tank. Think I'll try shortening the hoses (they currently hang down clear to the axle), and taking the cut-off piece to Home Depot for insert vales/caps.

we had the same exact problem on our 2013 eagle. took it back to the dealer and their solution was to install valves on the end of the 2 overflow tubes. when filling the tank you keep the valves open and once water runs out you close them so you wont lose all your water. was not happy with their solution but they were not willing to actually fix the problem. none of my previous jaycos had ever did that. not pretty but it works.

I found when I filled my new 2013 Jayco Premier 321Rlts 5'er with fresh water. I had to turn off the water when it first started spitting out on the overfill. I was able to keep the tank full then. If I filled it until it poured out, then, I lost at least half of my water. I prefer to tow with the tank empty, except we were doing a lot of boon-docking along our trip.

Thanks for all the replies, I knew I would get answers here, as I do on other forums for my boat, snowmobiles and 4 wheelers, great info, I don't pull mine around, we have land across from my parents cabin and its nice to come up on a Friday night and just turn the key and grab a cold one, we use to travel a lot until we bought this land and our last camper sat there for the whole ten years of its life, but I really like the new rig, everything about it is nice so far.
