Built In Speakers on Awning

I can't figure out how to turn off the speakers on awning of our 2019 Jayco 21 foot trailer. Any advice? I want to be able to listen to the radio inside the trailer without it being heard outside. Can't find anything in either the awning manufacturer's website or the Jayco trailer owners manual.

What brand/model radio is in the TT? The speakers will be active in a zone or fading setting.

Set fade to either front or back.

If you have the iRV, push the knob until it cycles through to Fade. Turn the knob to the right all the way to Front 7. Done.

all depends on the brand/model. The system in our Jayflight ( Furrion) has a 2 zone buttons- 1 for inside speakers, 2 for outside speakers.
BTW ..... the outside speakers built into the awning suck! Wish they would have left 'em in the side of the trailer.

Our 2019 28bhs has the different zones. 1,2,& 3. #3 is the outside speakers, #2 is the speakers in the ceiling inside and #1 is just the sound from the TV. You can have them all on or some on and some off. (Sorry for listing those backwards )

There are usually buttons on the radio for the different "zones". Our Jayco Eagle has 3 zones. 1 for the speakers in the living area, 1 for the bedroom area, and 1 for outside. Pressing the button turns on/off that zone. It was the same with the system in my Keystone Cougar.

Fastest way to shut them off on my 26BH is to go outside and hit the awning with my fist..... they usually go out. More than once i've had to get up on the ladder and wiggle the wires to get them to come on. Going in to get fixed tomorrow.

Our 264BH with an iRV radio is the same.

And couldn't agree more.... Sound quality is terrible compared to the sidewall mounted speakers. The driver in there can't be more than 2". Oh well.

I also have an IRV radio in my Jaycee 21FSB. The outdoor speaker on it are on the wall under the awning. To turn them off/on on the radio, there are 3 buttons labeled A, B, and C. C is for the outside.

I’ve heard quite a few complaints on those speakers mounted on the end of the awning. I’d assume it was a cost cutting measure along with eliminating two holes in the side wall that could eventually leak.

Remove the 4 screws on the front of the speaker, pull the speaker out, disconnect one wire, replace speaker.

Ours is an iRV and has 3 zones labled 1, 2, and 3. We have no speaker on BR unfortunately so only 1 and 3 are used. Even though they are small, I wonder if the speaker could be replaced with higher quality units.

Outside speakers Zone 2

On your radio, you should have Zone 1, Zone 2, etc. My 264BH the outside speakers are Zone 2. You only need to Click on Zone 2 to turn it on and off. Default should be off but just cycle through it until it is on the Off position for the Outside speaker.

Good luck

Speaking of speakers (pun intended), when I have both the inside and awning speakers on, the outside is at a comfortable listening level and the inside is just blasting. Anyone else experience this? Jayflight SLX 8 212QBW.

Yep. But we’re either inside or out, so I just adjust the “fade” to balance them out, then turn volume to a comfortable level. These are not your quality Bose systems lol.

Any chance you found a upgrade to those speakers?

Yep. In fact now it is both speakers. I can reach up and jiggle the wires leading into them and they’ll snap to life. Some day I’ll get up there and rewire, but we rarely use them so it’s not urgent. I’m sort of morally opposed to outside speakers unless there are no other campers close by.
