Bunk bed ladder

It seems ridiculous to me that Jayco sells these BH trailers without a ladder to get into the upper bunk. After quite a bit of searching, I found zero do it yourself ladders. I did find a telescoping hinged ladder primarily used on a boat to get out of the water. One step short of being long enough so I constructed a PVC pipe base.
Anyway, this is what I came up with. I've used it successfully. Needs to grandkid tested still!

I've thought the very same thing! We have a Jayco 264BHW and always wondered why Jayco didn't provide a top-bunk ladder. Even the after market fixed-length ladders that are tall enough, are always in the way of something like the bathroom door, and/or stick out too far into the walking area.

Fortunately at almost 8 years old, our grandson is like a little monkey and hasn't shown any need for a ladder. Most of our camping trips we just use the top bunk for storing extra grocery supplies.

It's always a race to deer camp to score the bottom bunk.

I made two of the large ones and one small one out of pvc from Lowe's for a total of $33 for my quad bunk TT. I tested the larger one and I'm 220 pounds. All is good. Click image for larger version

Recpro sells a 60 inch metal/plastic ladder for $60. I built one for a prior trailer out of wood sides and wood dowel rods. I bent some heavy framing metal to make the hooks. Sorry don't have a picture anymore.

I think this is a liability issue as Jayco is not the only manufacturer that does not provide ladders. Heartland used to with their toy haulers etc but stopped some years back and this was a common complaint from owners.

My resolution, and that of others was a three step ladder that you can find at Costco or other stores. It also works great for those storage cabinets that were too high to reach.
