Bunkhouse Carpet in 2016 Eagle 314BHDS

So we came back from a week vacation and a watermelon accidentally got left in the pantry for over a week. Needless to say it went bad and turned to liquid. The front of the trailer was elevated a bit so the foul watermelon liquid ran everywhere....a mess to say the least. I have been scrubbing and cleaning for two weeks. I think I have cleaned most of it except for the rear bunkhouse carpet. Approx 1/2 to 3/4 of the carpet got wet. I have tried to clean a few times without success. Its better but not great. I pulled the floor vent and stuck my fingers between floor an padding and it smells pretty bad.

Would getting it professionally cleaned help? Has anyone replaced carpet or should I just rip it out completely. It appears the same floor that is in the rest of the coach is underneath. Has anyone removed their carpet? How does it look on the edges, etc? Will the slide open and close ok? Maybe silly questions but to be honest this is not my area of expertise.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Once a carpet gets that smelly it time to replace it. Its almost impossible to remove odors from carpet even with so called professional cleaning. Maybe call a few local RV dealers and ask who they use to replace flooring, also just a home flooring store, its all installed the same way.

Another option is to lay down a solid floor and use an area rug. You will never have to deal with it again.

I had a bunk room carpeted in the last unit and this one has the solid surface which is sooo much better IMHO. Cleaning is a broom or spray swiffer.

Just something to consider.

I see now that Jayco has gone solid surface all the way to the front BR in most units which is something I wish I had original. We keep a carpet protector over it which has done a good job at limiting to wear.
