Butyl or caulk

going to be doing the marinco detachable cord mod to my 32TSBH, and was curious as should i use caulk or butyl tape for the adapter ring. thanks in advance.

Ours from the factory has the tape.

Most things that mount to the trailer side are mounted with butyl tape used as a sealant, and then a bead of Proflex Geocell sealant ran over the top, and partially down the sides.
