Bypass valve - replacement advice needed

Hi everyone,

I have a 2011 JayFilght 28BHS and looking to replace the bypass valve used for winterization. The stock valve is plastic and very difficult to turn, to the point of breaking. The connections seem unusual - Pex or PVC? has anyone replaced this valve with a brass 1/4 turn?

Chances are pretty good the plumbing is PEX. And the valve appears to be a SharkBite or similar connection. The resistance is probably the O-rings inside it.

There's a tool you can buy to release the valve from the tubing, and I'm pretty sure you can buy a metal replacement for it. The good thing about the plastic valving is there's never any long term corrosion.

A trip to a good plumbing, or big box store should get you what's needed to change it out. Measure the pipe, and take the picture with you.

Thanks! I see your point of it being a Sharkbite type connection, that makes the most sense. I was concerned about having to cut out the valve as I don't think I have enough pipe length to re-attach a new fitting.
