Unhappy Cabinet/drawer damaged and need repair

So, I had a little mishap in our 2016 Jayco White Hawk 29REKS. It seems that the drawer from the furnace cabinet wasn’t pushed all the way in before we opened up the RV at our latest campground. The slide out snagged on the side of the drawer and damaged it.

I have “undamaged” it enough to get the slide out to stow again without further damage. But I’ll need to replace the cabinet drawer and slides, as a minimum.

What is the best source for parts like these? Can I even get a drawer that has an exterior color and handle that’ll match our RV? Or is there possibly an alternative to having repairs done without paying >$150/hour plus parts?

Drawer slides are available and any of the big box home improvement stores and they are easily replaced with simple tools.

Matching a drawer front is a totally different problem. The manufacturer might sell you a new drawer, but expect it to be pricey. Look for a local woodworker who might be able to salvage the existing drawer front and make a new drawer box.

Decent quality slide outs are available at any big box store. Check online. I replaced some factory ones in my old 17FD with better ones. No problem as long as you get the same length. Can't help you on the drawer itself, sorry.

Got a local trade school or UBCJA training center? Teacher might accept a project.

Maybe. A local university community college is worth checking out.
:-)

Our Eagle was notorious for drawers and doors popping open during travel and then getting caught by the slides when opening. After the first couple of mishaps, we learned to secure every drawer or slide that could catch on a slide with tarp ball bungees. I imagine that child lock devices would also work.

It actually was a large determining factor for choosing our next 5th wheel. On our 377 there's absolutely no cabinetry that can get caught on the slide. But I still do my best to check that nothing has fallen and rolled around before I open the slides but stuff still happens.

I did email the Jayco parts department. They replied to say that I can give the last 8 digits of the VIN to a local Jayco dealer who would make a build of a replacement unit. I don’t know yet how expensive that will be! :-)
