cabinet latches

our cabinet latched keep getting loose. I've tried some larger screws, but they still Waller and pull loose from the practical board cabinet frame.

any suggestion for keeping the screws from working out. or better model latches to install.

the cabined drawer's have started opening while driving too.

I just installed safety 1st child locks on the dresser i installed in my octane. Sticky pad is really strong plus 2 screws in each piece. Screw in, thin out a little wood glue in hole, reinstall screw. They actually make a glue to swell wood for chair legs etc.

You can also try to drill out the hole with a 1/4" Forstner bit, insert a similar-sized dowel and epoxy it in place. When cured, carefully shave down any stub, mark location of hinge screws and drill a pilot hole. I had to do that on one of our cabinet hinges.

DAP has a Plastic Wood filler that worked pretty good in a vanity at my old house. Same thing happened.

Also, you can try a plastic screw anchor. Cut the tip off, dab some glue in the hole and twist it in. Make sure the hole is slightly smaller than the anchor.

we repair cabinet screw holes with round toothpicks and wood glue. glue in hole followed by one or two toothpicks. Waite half and hour and cut the excess away with your pocket knife, re-attach hinge. faster, better, cheaper.

Same here only I use the flat toothpicks as they work better.

This is my solution also. I cur a handfull on dowel pieces and keep them in my “spares” box. If a screw loosens I will gently tighten it a couple of times. When that proves ineffective I remove the door, drill a hole, squirt a blob of wood glue in the hole and push in a dowel plug coated with wood glue. After it dries I re install the door and drill a pilot hole and insert the original screw.

We’ve owned this 5th for 7-ish years and I’ve done this repair for several cabinet doors and none of them have needed a second repair.

Works for me.

I told my wife a out that toothpick trick and it worked great. She fixed the cabinet latch and dinette. Now one of the draws under the sink has flew open and the slide rail has broken out of the cabinet frame and pulled a chunk out towards the front of the cabinet. Is there a easy fix for that. ?

You can try gluing the chunk back (using wood glue. I'd avoid expanding glues such as the original Gorilla Glue, but their wood glue is fine.) Hold the repair in place using painter's tape until cured, and re-install the rail.

Thought about glueing a piece of
Pine board behind the cabinet framed and attaching the slide to it. Jayco only used one screw to Attach the rail in the back drawer terrible construction
