We are also in the blue filter group mostly to take out sediment. We have yet to experience "bad" water at a campground that couldn't be drank.

Currently we are using the blue Camco filter for sediment from city water source or when filling fresh water tank. I added an undersink filter that is plumbed into the water system and has a dedicated faucet which we use to filter water for drinking regardless of the source (city or tank). Over the winter we'll be picking up a multi-stage system to replace the blue Camco filter with when using city water or filling the fresh water tank.

Gladecreekwy, it was just a general question. I wasn't looking for your specific answer but thank you.

Yup, nothing to worry about, the water will always be safe. Filters are for sissies.
Type in “Should I filter tap water” into google just for fun.

I’d be more worried about the failing infrastructure that supplies water to underfunded municipal sources than I would bottled water from a reputable multi billion dollar bottling company.
Sure, the chance is slim you’d ever get sick drinking straight tap water from local or other sources, guess those aren’t dice I care to roll with my kids and our health given the option.

I use a filter on any campground but stlll carry bottled water for coffee, etc.. Years ago traveled overseas, I arrived late and was parched so I drink a large glass of water before going to bed. Woke up VERY morning the next day and NEVER want to live through another morning like that! Thank goodness for Kaopectate!

As full timers, driving all over the US, health conscious and environmentally conscious, this is our choice; a three filter system outside and a high pH system inside. Always tastes great! Showers are better also. We used to use the p.o.s. Camco blue filter and fill 5 gallon containers at water stores along the way! This is much better. Full time solution!

We used a similar one on the 5th wheel when full timing. It was the “RV Filter Store” two canister model. The amount of crud the pleated filter would sometimes catch coming out of the campground taps before sending water to the carbon filter was eye opening.

Bottled water cost more than Diesel fuel. IMO It's the largest fraud on the public ever. That said, We still buy and carry some just in case.

Ha.... I was just thinking that a little while ago, the money spent on bottled water is crazy.
I'm also wondering, the people that put these fancy water filter systems on their rigs, do you also do the same thing will all the water that comes into your homes?

That depends
Yesterday, at Kroger, I bought a case (32 16.9 oz bottles) of water for 3.19. That equates to 4.2 gallons of water for approx 75 cents per gallon. Where can you buy diesel fuel for less than 75 cents per gallon. Even the Dasani bottled water comes out at 1.60 per gallon and is still cheaper than gas or diesel fuel.
Granted buying Deer Park, Dasani or Perrier bottled water, by the bottle, in a Quick Mart or gas station is, IMHO, highway robbery when it costs 1.50 for a 16.9 oz bottle.

You have to snort that water before it is dangerous. The danger is swimming or bathing and getting water up the nose.

Yes I do, all my drinking water is ran through a Berkey Water filter and our homestead had an RO system installed. I’d love to assume my well water is ok to drink, but I watch the farmers spray tons of pesticide all over the fields surrounding my house and this whole county. I see Chem Lawn dumping crap all over yards in town that then runs into the drainage system so people can have pretty golf course lawns. I see places like Flint Michigan with water systems that ended up looking like 3rd world water supplies. I’m sure all those people who could eventually light their tap water on fire from the fracking contaminants in the ground water wished they’d had filters before they poisoned their kids and families. Contamination is so prevalent from run off and pollution in the water ways that it’s caused terrible “Red Tide” events in the last couple years down South. I’d like to assume that the natural filtration that occurs in the soil media that leads to my well does a sufficient job of keeping my well water safe. But then again, I’ve seen several wells compromised by cracked casings or contaminated by run off from ground water.
I choose to play it safe in the hopes I’m not another statistic. Does it help? I sure hope so, could something still go wrong and we get sick? Possibly could happen. But I know doing something is better than banking on someone else taking care of it for me. No one cares more about my family and myself than I do, so isn’t it my job to take every precaution?
Sorry to rant but sometimes the “I drank from a garden hose my whole life” mentality gets tiresome

I am no greeny or tree hugger but the main problem with all of this bottled water is the plastic that ends up in the landfills. Too few recycle, and even that process is questionable. With very few exceptions there is no need to carry bottled water. A good RO system, while somewhat of a water waster (unless you use the 0 system, which I have) is better than all of the plastic.

It was just an example that not all water is safe like people would imply. Besides, as my girls learned to drink from a real cup I can’t count the number of times they choked water out their noses or blew bubbles underwater in the bathtub and came up coughing water. Why not just use a filter and be sure?
