Cool Campgrounds in Flordia

We have are looking for a RV campground in FL in or around Fort Myers. Our experience with FL campgrounds have been nice parks, but lots are so close our awning touches the slideout of our neighbor, do not like to pay big bucks for no space. Any suggestions, we plan on spending a month in the area.
Thanks

Try Myakka River State Park. They have a newer section with full hookups that will accommodate larger rigs.

Most commercial parks in that part of Fl. are like that. Check out some state parks if you want more privacy.

We went to koreshan state park 2 years ago and liked it very much. We only camp in state park because in general, they have better privacy between campsites and they are very clean. We like nature and state parks fulfill our expectations.

Hope you find what you are looking for. Happy camping

Do the state campgrounds in Fla. have time limits for your stay? Some in others states had 1-2 week limits that we checked on. How about monthly rates?

thomasmnile, where did you find the 14 day reservation limit? we never had that other than having to wait 11 months to make a reservation for the following year for some State park that are very popular, like Bahia Honda State Park in the Keys.

This is the website we always use to reserve. We often reserved at the last minute for a day or two camping trip with no limit time on the reservation

http://www.floridastateparks.org/

Just go on the website and choose the campground you would like to go to. All the campground are on the scroll bar on top. Some State park in there do not offer any camping, but just day activities. After you make your choice, it will open another page with a picture of the campground. On top of the picture, you have different options to choose from. we like the photo gallery. On the right side of of the main photo, you have the campground address, the hours of operations, fees and camping reservations. when you click on the camping reservation, you can choose your length of stay and your camp spot. Your reservation is made thru Reserve America automatically. Have a great stay in Florida

Could be mistaken, but some of the more popular Florida Parks (Anastasia SP, St. George Island SP) do limit length of stays in the winter months. Shoot, Anastasia is so popular it's hard to get a reservation any time of year (especially weekends). I know, I have been trying for 3 years for an open weekend............

From the Florida State Parks website : http://www.floridastateparks.org/sta...m#lengthofstay

My mistake. Thanks, yes 14 days max stay. I misunderstood the question. Yeah, we never stay that long anyway. one week is the longest we stay. If I had more vacations, I would love to stay longer, but we try to spread our camping time of thru the year.

Anastasia is one of my favorite on the east coast. We have been lucky at finding spots not to long in advance. sometime you can grab a cancellation. We try to booked all of our camping trip at the beginning of the year. We reserve our thanksgiving camping almost a year in advance.
