Camping the Keys!

Advice please! We wanna camp the keys/key west next June/July. We have a small Jayflight 26bh travel trailer.

My best friend says it’s a mistake due to the heat and ac not able to keep up.

We are beach family. We love the beach time in the summer. Has anyone done this? Most of the campgrounds we’ve looked at have very little if any shade coverage. Thanks in advance for any help!

Happy camping!

I grew up in Fl. Our camper a/c handled the 98 degrees just as well as the 98 degrees in Ga. The 100%humidity when your outside will get you if your not use to it but as far as the a/c it doesn't know what state your in.
As for campgrounds there was one on the side of the road right on the water. Trees lined up between road an "campgrpund" so some spots had shade. Wish I could remember the name of it but I'm sure if you Googled earth the area you'd find it. If I remember right it was just before the last bridge into the keys

Do you do anything to prep your camper and protect it from the salt water?

We camp in the Keys for the month of March and it can get a bit warm. We have a Jayco Eagle with one A/C and we are fine. Your Jayco doesn’t have a slide which will help the A/C keep it cooler. I would put reflective insulation over the windows and possibly try to rig up a portable A/C unit to help with your main unit. The Keys are great and truthfully because you are completely surrounded by water, surprisingly it doesn’t get as hot as you would think. Lots of campgrounds to choose from, most are expensive and book up early. We have to book a year in advance every year for our March trip.
