Canyon Lake, AZ

Has anyone camped here? The campsite map on their website isn't the best. But I am trying to figure out if the campsites for TT are facing the water. The picture looks like the back end of the RV would be facing the water.

Anyone been there done that?

Kathie

go to google earth

There is only one marina at Canyon Lake and the campsite is just to the east of it. From the Google picture it does appear that the rear end of the TT's are facing the lake. Doesn't look like there are any pull-thrus. Call the marina and find out. 480.288.9233

Also on the Google Earth picture it is a very busy campsite during the summer months.

Thanks, LakeRacer. I should have thought to use google earth. Actually, the campsite map shows pull thru sites, but the map is a little confusing.

Make sure your comming in from the Apache Junction side and do be careful! Towards the end of the day a lot of the boaters comming down from the lakes may be well lubricated. Seems the biger and wider the boat the faster they drive.

Once you got rid of the trailer the ride past Fishcreek hill is a lot of fun. Ask about the fish creek bandit .. Too poor to have gun he rolled rocka on the stage coach to get them to through out the money box ...

Been to Canyon Lake a lot of times, not to camp but just to go. The road up there could get a little close at time. My trailer is to big to take it up the hills. If you take it easy then things should be just fine. Like was said come in from Apache Junction side, it is safer than from the east. When coming down from the lake just be careful cause it is steep in places.. Just take it easy and am sure things will work out. Have a good time. One more thing when going to the lake you will pass Lost Dutchman sp. Ernie

When you are at Lost Dutchman if time prevails take a drive to Canyon Lake and check out their campground. It is a scenic drive, through Tortilla Flats and there is a bar/restaurant at the marina, it also where Dolly Steamboat is parked at during the day. Enjoy your trip.

Ernie, would love to meet you both in May when you get here to Tombstone.
I live about 30 min from Tombstone and always could use an excuse to play tourist there. :hihi:

We stayed at Roper Lake last Sep and loved it. Going back Memorial weekend.

Last weekend in March we will be up at Lost Dutchman.

Enjoy!!
