Capital Grill Replacement with a 2-Burner Cooktop?

All,

We just sold our 24RBS and we had the outside pullout sink and 2-burner Suburban cooktop. It had the cover with the wind guards and I loved it! We have ordered an Eagle 280RBS and it has that Capital BBQ grill and from other threads no one likes it. I didn't think I would like it either. A couple people replaced the whole thing with a slide out drawer, but has anyone replaced it with the Suburban 2937AST 2-Burner Drop-In Cooktop? I also want to add the Suburban 2967AST RV 2-Burner Cooktop Cover With Side Wind Guards, but I do not know the clearance between the top of the slide out and the opening to the cabinet nor the dimensions of the pullout itself. The Suburban is what was in my 24RBS and I used it every single camping day. Anyone done this replacement?

Thanks.

That's the only thread I found, too. But, no one said if they had actually replaced it with a 2-burner stove. That's what I'm going to do as soon as I get it...or attempt to do.

My 2019 28RSOK has the Capital grill w/slideout. The slideout measures 22 x 16 x 5. The cutout for the slideout measures 17 x 6 1/2

Hope that helps.

Chuck,

Thanks for the measurements. Our neighbor has a FW that has the Capital BBQ grill. Said he used it one time and highly disappointed. I measured it tonight and the Suburban 2 burner stove I was wanting to put in place isn't a slam dunk. I've got to do some re-engineering to get it done. Man, I hate having to do this on a new trailer...one that I haven't even taken delivery of!

How do you like your 280RSOK?

Paul

We love it! We bought it in March of this year and have a little over 2 thousand miles and 24 camping nights. We use the outside grill and I like it very much. The wife doesn’t like to clean the grate however. ☹️ Immediately after getting the TT I installed a fireplace. I then removed the tv from the outside kitchen and installed the 2 cabinet doors that I had removed from inside to install the fireplace. Now I have additional storage and my outside kitchen looks well finished. We are leaving around the end of August for a 2 month trip up into Montana and Wyoming. Very excited about that.

I have the Capital grill and love it! I have grilled chicken, chops and brats, burgers and hotdogs so far. No issues with flame up or anything. Always spray the grate with nonstick grill cooking spray BEFORE lighting. Cleans up pretty good too.

I did the opposite. I still like to grill with charcoal but some parks only allow gas grills. I removed the two burner stove and replaced with the Capital grill. I've only used it a few time to cook steaks, but it does a good job and have had no problems with flair ups.

I have a 2 burner Suburban for sale if you are interested. I replaced the two burner with the 17" blackstone. Make an offer! Let me know!

Assuming this is for me.
Yes it’s the tabletop model.
Took the old one out. Drilled two holes for the back feet to sit in and removed the front feet on the blackstone. Had to raise my shelf in there about 1/2”. I remove the steel cooktop and put on the shelf when ready to close it up. I would have had to remove the whole shelf if I were to leave that steel cooktop on but I like that shelf in there. Bought a quick connect on propanegear.com. Thinking I might need to add some sort of heat shield to the fold up door.

I attached a couple of pics of it installed. If I were to do it again I would move it forward more just enough for the door to close. Still might do that because as of now I don't have room for the grease catch on the back. I installed so the front knob is flush with the counter top edge.
