Carbon monoxide detector going

Hi
The carbon monoxide detector in my camper keeps going off as soon as the battery or electric is connected. It’s not even in use. No propane nothing. What could be the issue?

How old is the detector? Believe it or not, these detectors have a shelf life. They usually start to fail around the 5 year mark +/-.

If you remove the detector, it should have a manufacturers date on the back.

What Midnight said. Had to replace mine this year as it had expired at 7 years as stated on the alarm.

If you are running on battery, when the voltage drops below a certain point many of them will chirp. On shore power this should never happen.

Also note, if you store stinky shoes or if your dog has stinky gas, it will trip the CO/gas detector. Also stinky trash can do it too.

There also have been many comments that people have experienced a very short life with them too.

Its a brand new trailer and the furnace has not been run long enough to purge the oil on the components,

or,

The CO detector has passed its life,

or,

the battery is low.

I had one go bad even though it still had 3 years before date expiration. I think the wife's hair spray to it out. I told her she has to close the bathroom door and turn the fan on from now on...lol

Interesting thread and makes me think I should replace mine. However mine, even being at least 12 years old still has a little green light on it and never beeps at me. Perhaps they were made better years back, or it doesn't work... lol ~CA

I was incorrect, what I thought was a combo co and propane detector is just a propane detector on mine. I have replaced the CO detector and will do so again soon as it says to replace before 60 months after installation. ~CA

I just had a scare like that. A pickup truck lost control and headed straight for us. We went into a severe sway at 60mph next to a ditch on Rt.95 in Rhode Island. By the grace of God I was able to catch it before we lost everything and drive into the ditch. I had an angel on my shoulder at that moment.

No, Frankie. I found it as a Gif. I am still trying to figure out why the driver in the Gif went into the median. Maybe falling asleep?

I post stupid things that I find in my sig line for a couple of reasons, one being a reminder to be vigilant as we drive our RVs and, the other, I tend to be an attention whore.

Like you, I sometimes feel I also have a guardian angel riding with me. Or, as a friend once said, The Lord has a gorier death planned for me.

RV driving...pffft. That surely is a good recommendation, but truthfully I find things even worser when I'm only in my car.

Vigilance is needed 100% of the time.

I change all of our fire and carbon monoxide detectors about 6-18 months before expiration. Don't mess with the safety of anyone. This will include the TT.
