Carefree Awning Question

The Carefree power Awning on our 2011 Trailer has lost one of the spring loaded little balls in the front arm. Reading the extensive Carefree owners manual offers little help other then they are called the pitch adjustment pins. I can't see how you would replace it.

Do I really need it, the awning seems to stay in place without it. Could I just make something to shove in the hole to change the pitch if needed (a small piece of wood). Do they need to be spring loaded?
Thanks for the help.

My guess is you are referring to the Carefree Eclipse awning with adjustable pitch.
There is a replacement Arm Roller Kit that may include what you need; R019291-005 white or R019291-006 black.
Even when the minimum pitch is set the spring-loaded adjustment pins are still needed, but I think you would be safe using "something else" to replace the missing pin(s) as opposed to an entire Arm Roller Kit.
The Carefree Eclipse awning parts must be made of gold for what they charge for some of them.

You might also consider contacting Carefree technical support for an official answer. I had to do the same for my Eclipse awning this week and they replied by email within an hour.

Here are some pictures. It is hard to see but one shows the arm with the spring loaded ball stop in place and the other with it gone.
I assume it is an Eclipse as it has adjustable pitch.
The only thing I can see the stops do is to hold the pitch angle and they appear to be spring loaded to accommodate the rain dump. (I think) . According to the Manual the awning will retract with the arms set in any pitch position.
I will also contact Carefree, their parts do seem to be made of precious metal!
