I use mine and like the way it is stored out of the way when not needed. If I were toting more than 2 or they were high end bikes it may be a different story.

Absolutely worth it at $200, had I not had the clearance issue I likely would have found a way to make the factory rack work for us too. Our major issue was every time we pulled in and out of our storage facility it would drag to the point I destroyed one stabilizer and created a slight bend to the rack.

Hi, Does anyone have pictures of how they tie down their bikes when using the tray? Ours was installed when ordered and i have yet to haul the kids bikes on it. Just need to know what straps to get and how to keep the bikes upright with out hitting each other.
Thanks.

Before I replaced the factory option, I used 2 ratchet straps that I looped the frame of each bike and conencted to the holes on the frame of that cargo tray.
Keeping bikes from rubbing was accomplished with some cut pieces of foam pipe insulation that I placed on the frame and forks of the bikes.
There really isn't a good or right way to do this, its really what works for you. Most folks are using ratchet straps or bungee cords to hold them on the rack.

First thing I did was to get some heavy duty pipe insulation and tie wrap it to the support bar that swings up on the bike tray.
When loading the bikes on the tray, I have only loaded 3 bikes, I alternate the direction they face in order to get them to fit .
I use bungy cords to secure them together and to the support bar and then weave a cable, which I secure with a padlock, through the bike frames, bike rims and bike tray.

That pipe insulation is a good idea. Right now I a tee shirt between the last bike and the bar and have a ratchet strap from hole to hole in the basket top and running through the frames of the bikes. It keeps them away from the camper and into the bar instead.

Not to side track the thread. I understand that this I mostly about bike storage. We use the rack to carry and use a 3000 Honda generator. Have it locked down and chained. Never have to move it while in use. Works just great!!!

If we camp some place with no electric we will probably do the same once the bikes are off it

I like how the stabilizers are lower with the bike rack. I can now reach the ground on sites that drop off in the rear !!

If you don't mind, could you tell me how to attach a bike to this bar? It has the two triangle connect points at the top, but not sure the best and safest way to attach a bike.

I use ratchet straps using the holes in the front and rear lip of the basket to hold the bikes against the bar. I don't use the triangle loops in the bar. I just criss cross 2 straps around the bar.
