Carlisle or Good Year

I have a 297BHS, Which tires would you go with? Carlisle's are a little cheaper, and I am not a fan of good year. Any other thoughts?

I have been running Carlisle's for many years with zero issues. I'm sure you will get a bunch on here telling you to go with the Maxxis 8008. Also a good tire, but really no better than the Carlisle. They are a fair amount more expensive, and usually have to be ordered, which isn't a good thing if you have to replace one while out on the road. Carlisle's are always in stock and easy to get ahold of when needed.
Don't fall for all the Carlisle haters out there. They have changed the design from years ago, and they really are a quality ST tire now.

I ran Carlisle's on my 2007 camper and traded it for my 2013 Eagle and never had an issue with the tires, and that camper went all over the place. I always keep the tires covered when parked. I also have a 2001, 16 foot utility trailer that I had to just last year replace with new Carlisle's. I also am not a fan of good year. So you see who gets my vote.

I have had 3-3year old Carlyle tires go bad on me in the last year.. Needless to say I am NOT a fan

Just to play devil's advocate, I'm on my 2nd set of Goodyear Marathons. My first set of 4 tires gave me 30,000 miles of no-problem use. Actually, a couple were worn down to the steel belts in places, and I admit I should have replaced them sooner.

I didn't hesitate to buy new Marathons as replacements, and so far they have 10,000 miles of use, and still look great.

In my opinion, Marathons get a bad rap because so darned many of them have been used as standard equipment on lots of RVs. With lots of them sold, there's bound to be a greater number of negative experiences to read about on the internet than other ST tires.

Will I buy them again? I'll decide that when the time comes.

Went with a set of Carlisle "RH" Radial ST225/75R15, "E" Load Range, three years ago and they have preformed great to-date. I've made a couple of round-trips to Texas from Michigan with my heavy TT experiencing some nasty road conditions, and additional miles via summer trips around the mid-west all without incident.

Based on my experience with my present Carlisle tires IMO they are as good as my original set of Maxxis tires.

I just put Maxxis on mine and while I did a lot reading on various tires before hand,
I think my research convinced me that maintaining proper air pressure, careful observation and watchful driving habits are about as important as the brand of tire.
My first RV and getting ready for a long trip, so we'll see how it goes.

I got about 20k out of my Marathons before I replaced them. Some were worn on the inside part of the tire more than I liked, but I put Marathons back on and will monitor my pressures better now that I have a better compressor/gauge

When you purchase your tires make sure they are properly balanced and inflated. You need to monitor the air pressure more so with heat and cold. Remember that the weather and road temperature will greatly influence the air pressure. A properly balanced and inflated tire will serve your well. I am sure you are aware of this but just in case. We have used Carlisle tires and have not had any issues. Good luck with your decision. Nothing like a bad tire day!!!
