Changing out the Queen Mattress

We are the proud new owners of a 2005 Jayflight 29 FBS. After our maiden voyage this weekend, one thing is very apparent, that an upgraded and hopefully longer mattress is needed. Both of us are tall and in our natural sleeping positions, our feet hang off way to much.

The good news is that we have the extra room at the and should be able to extend the plywood out a few inches to accommodate a long mattress. Has anyone done this? Any advice, tips or tricks?

Also any tips about new mattress buying would be great. I really think a new mattress would be better than a foam topper.

Thanks for your input.

The Original Mattress Factory

These folks can build custom made mattress sets for almost any need. Although I've never had a custom mattress built, I have purchased two of their mattress sets for my home and have been very pleased with the quality and price.

I understand that shipping mattresses can be expensive, though, due to their bulkiness and size.

I am the same way... but I never worried about extending the base just put the larger mattress on after all its only your feet there... oh I never have never sat on the edge of a bed so that might affect things too.
