OK, we were finally able to get the speaker grille off. Turning it did nothing at all. The speaker grills are just kind of snapped around the outside of the speaker so it just takes enough leverage and pulling to pull them down. Then there are about 3 speakers holding the speaker to the ceiling. We haven't touched that yet since we were pressed for time.

Polk Speakers

So these speakers will fit? The 6.5" size just seems like it would be too big to replace the stock speakers. I havne't measured anything, it just sounds big.

Worked in my unit. Personally I would take down a speaker and measure before I bought any. YMMV

Sounds good, thanks. I'm assuming you no longer have the stock speaker grill anymore, you'd have to use whatever came with the new speakers?

No I used the silver grills that came with the new speakers. If I had thought about it before I installed the new speakers I would have spray painted the new silver grills white before I installed them. Live and learn. BTW I did have to trim a couple of the openings a little to make the new speakers fit. Nothing tough I just used a sharp utility knife to enlage the hole in a couple of places.

I replaced my stock white indoor speakers with Pyle PL63BL, 6.5 inch. exact fit.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

My covers snaped off, used a butter knife. Using the new covers that came with the speakers.

$20.00 is more my speed......but most important - how do they sound? A mild improvement?... noticeable improvement?....mind-blowing improvement?

$20 isn't a lot of money - but it's probably 4X more than the stock speakers cost.
