Chassie battery ran down

Due to misreading the manual I ran the chassis battery way down. I thought it would be charged when plugged into shore power, but it doesn't. Had to use the auxiliary start switch to start the motor. after about an hour the chassis battery was charged back up. I think using the radio speakers for the TV ran it down.

Anyway I am thinking that one could run an extension cord to a small battery charger put under the hood and hooked up to the battery would keep it from running down. Anyone do this, or have a comment about it?
Retired and loving it.
