city water head winterzation
Probably dumb question, Went winterize my 26GBH today. Did not use the water systems this year, only the head system hooked up to city water.
City water squirts clear when pressed.
Do I run out the old pink in the rest system and repressurize. Valves in the hot water tank and have not been opened, no need to drain? No water at the low point drain.
Should I just dump pink into head and empty holding tanks?
I have no access to water at my storage site.

I would think the low point drains would take care of the city water hookup. I have never worried about the city water port.

If you used the city water connection for water in the camper then you most definitely need to winterize the entire camper. Make sure the water heater is bypassed, close the pump inlet from fresh water tank and open the suction tube to pump. Insert the end into a gallon of pink RV antifreeze. When you get the outside shower done after the inside faucets are done, leave the shower open. Shut the pump off and bleed most of the pressure down. Now you can winterize the city water connector by pulling out the little screen and pushing in on the white button in the middle. You should get antifreeze out there. Put the screen back in and you are good to go.

I just did my 30dsre at the campground. Didnt have a compressor so did noy blow the lines. I read that other winterize their black tanks flush line inlet. I could not get anything to go in there. I blew some air via a hose into this inlet and couldnt get any air into it. It work fine when hooked up to water spicket. Wonder if there is a tight anti-siphon valve in line someplace?

Word of caution. When you get to the last step and are about to push in on the little white button/valve in the city water connection......first turn off the pump, then open a tap to release some pressure. Best to have a helper. Go outside and push in on the white button....hold it in....and tell your helper to turn on the pump. Stand back. Anti freeze will squirt out very quickly....turn off pump.....release valve and you're done. I wish I'd known this as I pushed the valve when it was under pressure and the valve now cannot be reset. This cautionary tale has been repeated several times on this helpful forum.

When I read this I thought you had already winterized with the pink stuff. The city port should drain with the low point drains. You do need to winterize if you have been using the city port. I thought you were just questioning the part where the hose attaches to the trailer.

This is easily repaired by removing the whole city water connection from the camper and pulling the center pin out from the back. There will be a small o-ring in there that needs to be reseated. If you have room to work, you can pull the water line off the back and fix it on the camper.

Thanks for the repair info. I'll try that next year. This year I just screwed in a hose plug/cap when I needed to use the pump and all worked well. We're normally hooked up to city water.
