Connection for gas grill

I picked up an Academy Outside Gourmet tailgater grill and the adapter hose from Coleman to hook up to the propane port on the rear of the trailer. I thought I could remove the regulator and hook the grill up this way but the instructions specifically forbid hooking the grill to the RV. I have it packed up to return, but what grill can I connect to this connection? I was hoping to keep it under $150.

I wonder if the instructions say that because the grill (under normal operating circumstances) is regulated as it comes out of the box. And the propane QC on your trailer is already regulated. The published grill instructions would predictably state NOT to use the grill on an RV because the RV QC is already regulated, and it wouldn't work (or at least not very well). But those instructions were written for a grill being used as it comes out of the box; you have modified the grill (by removing the regulator) and so the instructions (in this instance) may no longer be relevant.

Just a thought.

Many people have modified many grills to be used with the standard QC found on an RV by removing the factory installed regulators. I just haven't gotten to modding my Weber for this yet, but it will likely happen some day.

There have been a lot of comments on grills made with the regulator, not working with the big propane bottles. 2 weeks ago my wife and I bought the BBQTek Grill from Camping World. (Olive BBQTek Grill - Lucas Bbq Co Ltd GPT1813G - Gas Grills - Camping World)
We also bought a propane hose to hook the grill to a 20 lb. bottle. looks like this. 5' Propane Hose/Regulator Assembly - Mr. Heater F273701 - Propane Hoses and Adapters - Camping World. The salesman said they had one with a quick disconnect to fit the trailer, if we wanted it. BTW, I grilled chicken one evening and pork chops the next. The temp guage quickly went up to 500 degrees.

I picked up the camp shef from camping world. I never used the propane hose that came with the cook top. I went to a propane company, told them what I was trying to do. They made me a hose as long as I wanted (15') with the quick connect tip that fit right in the trailer, and screw on end that fit the cook top.

I cook outside all the time with it. It's the 2 burner model and works great.

Dump the regulated hose and get a new hose and you'll be good to go!

Thanks that is what I thought, but since this one expressly states not too I am returning it for the Coleman that states that you can buy parts to connect it. Probably a better grill anyway.

I removed the regulator from out Napoleon Travel Q grill so that I could use it with our quick connect, and it works perfectly. Never actually read any of the paperwork that came with it though I would think it says the same thing in the small print somewhere.

I have been using the table top stainless grill from Costco. We have had it 6 years. They still sell the grill for $99. The Home Depot in our area has a grill that appears very close to the size and design of the Costco grill, also $99.

I am using a Weber Q2000 connected to the stub. I had to purchase a couple of items from Calore and remove the regulator. I love having my Weber Q when camping. The cost was around $35 for the parts.
