Cover - In the rain?

Rookie question that I have been unable to find an answer to (perhaps my search skills suck!).

Do I need a dry few days before putting on my cover for the winter? Or can I put my cover on in the rain when the TT is already wet?

I've been unable to find a direct answer, and waiting for a dry day or two is not lining up with the forecast this weekend.

Cheers,
Corey

Poor weather is not your friend when putting the cover on. They are a little cumbersome and trying to manhandle them on a slippery roof may not be the best option. The biggest challenge though is winds. The cover quickly turns into a sail if you have a stiff breeze accompanying the rains.

Assuming you have a good cover, they are designed to breathe so I don't believe trapping moisture would be a problem for mold and such. But my preference would certainly be to start with it dry just to keep as much water out of the nooks and crannies as possible to prevent possible damage from freeze/thaw cycles.

If you are going to do it in less then ideal conditions, make sure you have at least one assistant. Two if you can find the extra help.

My opinion is to wait for dryer weather.

A little bit of wet from last night's shower won't be a problem. But if there are pools of water anywhere, you are looking for trouble.
