Covers & TV Antenna

so on our old TT we had an analogue antenna that day flat on the roof. So putting the cover on was no issue.
I just finished winterizing this morning and noticed that the new digital antenna has metal "spikes" coming of the sides on the back. I get a fair bit of snow where I am and just wondering if anyone is using something to cover the antenna before putting a cover on.

I might build a plywood box, topped with a piece of (old?) carpet to protect those wings, and keep the cover from getting cut. Just an off-the-cuff idea.

Plastic pail with foam pipe insulation around the rim as a buffer in case of movement. You could foam the top end (bottom of the bucket) to prevent chaffing from the cover movement.

I use pipe insulation foam on mine. Then run duct tape that starts at the first end then to the second... making a complete circle with the duct tape. Has never moved in high winds or storms.
