Day Night Shades

On my day night shades I have a couple of the bigger shades that do not want to stay open when raised. Is there a way to adjust the tension so the shade will stay open ,without putting some kind of clip on the string.

Maybe rotate the round string retainer to tighten the tension on the string. Also, be sure that you don't have any broken strings as that will cause the problem as well.

I have the opposite problem. My large ones are way to tight. I wondered if those wheels were for adjusting the tension. I'll have to give that a try.

On my larger day/night blinds I had to add a couple modified metal angled "L" brackets because the whole blind assembly fell down. Found out that Jayco only puts two screws in to hold the whole thing in place, and doesn't take long after moving the blinds up/down the two screws pull out.

Picked up a package of 1/2 inch wide x 1 1/2 inch metal angled "L" brackets (w/screws). Bent one of the "L" legs another 90 degrees so that it would rest against one edge of the plastic day/night frame firmly. Used two screws per "L" bracket to hold it in place into the top wood window frame.

One of these, just bent another 90 degree bend that went against the plastic day/night frame:

Works great......., went and did the remainder of the day/night blinds.

I adjusted the shades by raising them, which loosed the string, then I wrapped the string aroung the bottom screw two turns on each side. Not sure how that tightened the shade tension adjustment but it worked, they are staying up, Thanks for the info. It sure has been GREAT to have fellow campers to help me through the issues of a new camper.

I am having the same problem with two of my large shades. When they are pulled down, they are way too tight and crooked. I cannot figure out how to make them hang straight. I'm thinking maybe the string was cut too short on one side.

Mine are crooked to. Going to take them loose and start over being I don't have to run it down an assembly line so fast. LOL that's what's wrong most of the time the person who installed them does not care about anything but their check on Friday!

I don't think that it's necessarily an installation issue, or maybe it was installed too tight. My last trip mine went crooked as well. I ended up removing one side string making it straight then putting the round thingiemabob back in. I made them a little looser so when it becomes crooked again they can be straightened without removing the knob thingie. It works easier now, becomes crooked easier, but also straightens easier as well so all happy!
