Depreciation question

Say I buy a 26BH out the door for $18K. How much do you think the trailer would be worth in 3 years if maintained properly but stored outdoors? 5 years?

NADA guides suggest that a 2011 Jayco 26BH has an average retail price of $11,000

I would say it depends on how well you maintain your unit. We just sold a 2010 Jayco Jayflight . NADA said $15,000 for well maintained unit. Dealer would not allow but $12,000. We advertised for $17,000 and most folks wanted to pay about $13,000. WE held out to the end of the AD and a guy walked in who had been looking at FEMA trailers for almost the same money! He could not believe how clean our unit was. Got out his checkbook and wrote a check on the spot for the asking price. So your unit is really worth what a buyer is willing to pay!

I bought 2012 26BH in Oct 2011 for $18,200 out the door. It had every option available at the time w/ 13.5 AC. I added several after markets items; custom welded rear receiver, upgraded power vents, max air vent cover, black tank washer, plus a few others.

- Jan 2014 NADA valued it ~$16k
- Two different Dealers offered trade-in at $10,000 and $10,700 against a 32BHDS that we offered 30% off MSRP.
- Ended up selling it private party off Craigslist for $14,500 after being listed about 30 days. We had several serious lookers, a couple other offers in the $13k range that I didn't accept.

My trailer was impeccable. Stored outside but washed before/after every trip and hand waxed each spring and fall.

Hope this helps.

Your best bet would be to sell it (if you ever do) to a private party.
