determining length

When determining length, is the tongue included?
I can't get the same answer from different salesmen.

Example: If a trailer's length is listed at 27', is that the total length of the trailer with the tongue also, or do I need to add three feet for the tongue, making it a 30' trailer?

And when reserving a campground and they ask for trailer size, do you tell them the length of just the trailer, or the trailer with the tongue also?

If the spec says "overall length" that is ball to bumper.

The length depends upon what you are asking.

The OVERALL length would be the length from the hitch coupler to the rear bumper. That is the number that I provide a campground asking the length of my trailer.

The BOX length is the length of the inhabitable area of the camper, front wall to back wall. This is the number that I provide when my buddy asks how long my camper is.

Our 264 BHW is about 29' from hitch to back bumper. No problems finding a site at State Parks.

As mentioned , manufacturer will give you both. Campgrounds prob want "overall length" ( including hitch) to make sure you'll fit on the pad.
