If your analog thermostat has a 2 stage fan( (high and low speed fan when in ac mode), the digital will also have a 2 stage fan. The switch modification refers to converting a residential digital thermostat to work in the rv.

If your old one does not have that option, changing the thermostat will not add it.

Anyone contemplating changing out a analog thermostat will be smart to do some research. Google the one you have and make sure that you are ordering the digital replacement for it.

There are many different things that others have done that may or may not be applicable to your situation.

Another thing to be aware of is to remove dc voltage from the leads before doing any work on the wiring. A friend of mine ruined a new digital thermostat by shorting some wiring the wrong way. Expensive mistake.

That's some GREAT advice on both counts. Before I touch ANY wire in my trailer (and even for some work that doesn't involve electrical, just in case) I unplug it from shore power, and remove the battery. If I have a doubt and I think someone will come along and plug me in (like DW trying to be helpful), I'll hide the shore power cord and put my battery off the trailer on the ground, or in the garage. I've even been known to carry a contact voltage tester around in my pocket and will test circuits I "know" are dead. I've been electrocuted before (young and stupid) and do not wish to repeat the experience!

Doing this mod as well. So there is no safe way to change it out without disconnecting the battery? I wont be connected to shore power.

When changing the Thermostat, only remove one wire at a time and connect it to the new one.
With this, the thermostat is in more danger than you but caution is still a good thing.

This upgrade is to your 27dslr?
I have the 29reks on order and from pictures I look at, I'm thinking I have the same analog as you had..
Also, looking at your other mods, I've noticed you upgraded your power cord to detachable, jayco's website is showing the 2016 white hawk as having a standard detachable power cord?

Here: RV Digital Thermostat Upgrade | ModMyRV
is the mod that I was going to use but decided to just replace them both with the factory units.
