Dinette Revisions

We have a 26RLS with the U shaped dinette. It is hard to get into and out of because of the closeness of the table to the seats and the legs. Has anyone turned the table around or made other revisions to this?

we had the same trouble with our 26 rls...we had the dealer ship change the legs to the freestanding/collapsible legs so now we can move the table in and out when needed or we can even take it and use it outside also. We love it!!!!

You can remove the dinette and put in table and chairs. You loose the storage under the bench and the sleep accommodation. There are some nice small table & chair sets available. Put on loose pillows and you're all set.

Thanks. We have not liked the factory setup since day one.

Can you explain what collapsible legs you used and how? And, can the table still be used for an extra bed if needed?

After having the booth dinette in our last camper this time we opted for table and chairs. The dinette was ok for sleeping the children when they were small but as they grew it just became more useless to us

Kevin, Yes it can still be used as the extra bed, my kids and grand-kids sleep on it all the time lol. You can order the collapsible legs from the dealer, they are right from Jayco, they use them on other trailers. I dont remember the cost, we had them install them as part of our purchase agreement. But you remove the mounts for the permanent legs on both the table and floor, and these attach to the table. There is a lever on them to collapse them down for when you need to use it as part of the bed. They are very sturdy too and like I said it turns the table into a free standing table. I suppose the term legs is not right..pedastal maybe a better description, it is one large base that attaches to the table top and folds down so the table can be used as a bed

We are also not big fans of the Jay Flight dinette table due to its instability. We upgraded from a Jay Feather hybrid which had the exact flip up table and we almost kept it before selling the trailer. I think we will also be changing to a free standing table. Thanks for the video link.

Thanks for all the advice. Makes things much easier when someone has done it before you.

The free standing collapsible table was one feature I liked when looking at a Keystone Springdale. They have them. I may investigate this myself if the 'U' shaped dinette doesn't work out for us. To be honest, I can only recall a handful of times we actually ate at the dinette last season in my old trailer. We generally dine outside at the patio table.

Received the collapsible table mechanism yesterday from Factoryrvsurplus. Installed it today (less than 20min.) and it is great. We installed it so that the table is turned 90 deg. from the original factory location. So easy now to get in and out of the dinette on both sides and move it anywhere it is needed.

Glad to hear Kevin!! That is how we use ours too...turned 90 degrees. Also when we travel I leave the table in the upright position and tuck the legs under the ottoman/rear bench of the dinette. Travels fine like that

Love it! Thanks for the posts guys!! I love the ushape dinnet, can throw 4 kids in the back and they have no where to go, but I've hated the legs since I've had it. I try and tighten them every time we go out and still it wables enough to spill milk!! Now hopefully can have the best of both worlds.

Folding Table Base arrived looks to be well built. Took about 30 minutes to install using the screws removed from original mount. Works as advertised, seams stable, lowers to correct height to convert dinette to bed if needed. Slides to the rear of dinette so the slide will retract. Not sure how it will ride, I think I'll put some type strap to keep it from moving out to the cabinetry across he way.
