Disconnect battery if seasonal?

Hi,

Do you disconnect your battery if you are a seasonal? We just signed a contract to be a seasonal camper next year and was wondering what I should do.

Thanks,

Peter

If you mean when its plugged in I would still use a battery. In the event of a power outage you can still run the frig and stuff. If you are leaving it there for the Winter and turning off the power then disconnect the battery. Disclaimer-I`m not a seasonal camper.

If ours is plugged in the batterys are hooked up. If we were to store without power then we would disconnect the batteries.

Thanks, wasn't sure if leaving it plugged in all season would over charge and damage the battery. Yes, I will be removing the battery for winter storage. Thanks again.

We spend 4 months parked in a campground in Florida and leave the batterys connected. IMHO it helps improve the service life of the batteries to keep a charge on them. I do the same with my motorcycles and tractor while we are in Florida (Keep a trickle charger on them at home). Only suggestion that I would add is to make sure you check that water level once a month.

If you are going to remove the battery be sure to keep it charged during the winter.

I'm fairly confident that your 2011 G2 has a PD 3-stage converter/charger which will greatly minimize overcharging. Check the battery once a month during the season (and during winter storage when hooked to a battery tender) to insure that the cells are full of distilled water.

Thanks too all, I appreciate it. This will be our first time being a seasonal, so I appreciate the comments and suggestions.

I have always disconnected and removed the battery from our TT and put it in our garage. I had read that doing this helped to prolong the life of the battery especially in very cold winter climates...and I'm here to tell you that -35 can really do a number to any kind of battery, especially one that's not being used daily like the one in a TT.
