Do you tow your Jayco TT with full fresh water tank?
Lots of debate about whether you should or shouldn't. I have a Jayco Whitehawk TT and wondering how many people with travel trailer tow with full fresh water tank?

If your water tank isn't centered over both axles (many are not) you run the risk of a blow out. Putting an additional several hundred pounds (in some cases closer to 1000 pounds depending on tank size) over one axle can cause problems. I've done it but I was cautious. I never went too far (under 50 miles) and I kept my speed around 55.

X2!
I never did. I've seen others have their tank supports fail. When I boondock, I usually bring 3-6 (5) gallon bottles of drinking water which I transport in the truck bed. Use the water for drinking, cooking, washing dishes and the toilet. A true "navy shower" is a must.

i'm no expert but that weight probably isn't where you want it while towing and it would not be a fun experience driving, especially if your not used to or have a truck that can handle the extra weight sloshing around. i carry a few extra gallons from empty in the tank in case someone has to use the bathroom while traveling

Never did. Only carried about 10 gal, enough to flush the toilet and then filled up when we arrived at the park. We went to many State or County Parks that were elec only and they always had spigots avail to fill the tank before we parked. Even did the same when we had the MH's.

Like Grumpy said, just some in it to flush the toilet if we're travelling far, or I drank too much coffee on the way.

I'll be the oddball of the bunch and tell you that I always have a full fresh water tank when I pull out for a trip. I even top off at the campground before we head home if I've used any.
2 reasons.
First, my particular trailer simply tows better with a full fresh tank. My trailer is naturally rear heavy due to the layout. Having the fresh water tank in front of the axles full gives me more tongue weight and a much more pleasant towing experience.
Second, on more than on occasion, I have been at campgrounds where there has been water issues. A couple of times there has been a lack of water due to an issue with the local public water system at the campground. And in one case, there was a boil water advisory due to some contamination of the campground source. Having my tank full buys me some extra time not having to worry about those issues if they should arise.

Always have, always will. Leaving Friday for a 4 day weekend in Las Vegas, and took on 65 gallons of soft water from the house this morning. My trailer tows better and my TV handles the load with no problem. Besides, traveling across Arizona in 100 degree heat with only 5 or 10 gallon isn’t a real smart idea. I have also arrived at campgrounds that either had contaminated or no water available.
When I weighed my trailer at the CAT scales the axle weights were well below maximum and balanced as well.
And yes, I also have always traveled with my propane turned on and my refrigerator keeping my beer and ice cream cold….
Next question???

I'm in the 10 gallons for bathroom use FOR NOW. My only concern is the minimal way my 2 fresh water tanks are secured. I don't trust the 2 short "L" brackets currently holding my tanks in with self tapping screws. I have a plan to weld support rails under my tanks. When I get that done I will travel with a full tank.
I always fill my tank upon arrival at a campground even when I have full hook ups because well as others have said you never know...

Need a choice for sometimes. On way to dry camps ( no water available ) I will fill up. Otherwise, I carry a few gallons for flushing and hand washing on the road. Why mover water that you can get at your destination???

I will be with the few and yes I do most of the time. Our trailer I will add also only has a single axle but its 55gal are mostly over that axle. I will say I do not trust water from other sources and will not do what some friends of ours do and fill my tanks with non-potable water at the dump station. Will not wash hands, dishes or brush my teeth with that. On more than one occasion I have seen what people do with those and their stinky slinky.
I usually loose some water in transit as well as I will start out with a full tank (that hit overflow) and will arrive with 2/3s of a tank.

Yes, but usually just five to ten while on the road. So far never a problem. I've left with full gray and black with several hundred miles before dumping.
If there is a reliable, verified recently, place to fill I will wait until I'm closer.

Never. Too much added weight is a drag on fuel economy and also the stress on support brackets would be maxed on a full tank.

Propane is four pounds per gallon, lots of places sell propane. Yet we always fill up and not worry about the extra wear and tear carrying that weight.
Ten gallons or thirty gallons isn't that much of a difference in weight. I've carried over 150 pounds of food and drinks during a two month COVID era trip. That's about 20 gallons of water.

X2. I only fill my FW tank the morning before towing to my dry camping location, otherwise never.

Mine only gets towed from the water fill up location to the actual campsite. It also gets towed only from the campsite to the nearest dump station. The support/attachment for those tanks is inadequate in my opinion to handle the weight of the contents and tank while going down the highway.
All of my tanks are behind the axle which would add a lot of weight in the wrong place for towing.
