Connection in Rear S/O

I bought a 2009 32BHDS new in Feb 2010. It has the same connection so that rules out a previous owner mod. If I'm not mistaken, if you remove the sleeper couch in the front S/O you will find one on the floor also. Never have been concerned about them. All systems on my unit function as they should. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Why worry about them?

The area already has a nite light for the jcube/trundel bed so its not for interior nite light.

Bill
Is the nite light actually in the SO? My guess would be that it is power coming INTO the SO from the main trailer harness, not going out. Remember how these are put together. The SO is "dropped" (slid?) into the nearly complete trailer near the end of assembly. The main wiring harness for the TT would have been installed long before. This pig tail is probably left hanging until the SO is installed and then the final connection was made to the wiring pre-installed in the SO with these two butt connectors. Considering how SO's move, the most sensible place to bring the power into the SO would be through the floor with the wiring routed so it doesn't get pinched by the movement of the slide.

Note that the connection is inside to protect weather, and that it is well away from the side walls and slide mechanism.

My first step would be to first see if there's power through the connection with a volt meter. That will tell you if it's AC or DC. Then disconnect all power to the trailer -- shore power and battery. Then open up the connection and isolate the leads so they don't come into contact with anything. Wrapping them in electrical tape or wire nuts would work. Then power up the trailer and start testing things to see what doesn't work anymore. That will point you in the right direction whether it's important or not.

Looks like some sort of "cobb Job" with a 3M wire connector and a staple for house Romex type wire. Probably from a previous owner if you purchased it used? I would put a meter on it and see if you have power, 12VDC maybe.

Probably just me, but the title of this thread has me continuously checking back on it. "Does anyone know what this is" is something I have not honestly heard since my last physical.

Good luck.

My 2015 has the same set up,it is the power supply for the 2 night lights on the lower portion j cube area and upper bunk area.Due to the lights being on a slide that's how they run the power to them, they are only 12v lights so the splice and wireing is fine.i had to remove my couch when my puppy chewed apart and ate half of it,guess what, theres another one under there for the lights in my main slide out also.

The blue connectors are called Scotch locks. If you open them there is a metal blade inside so when you place the wires in the connector and push the blade down it splices the wires together. They work great but don't use them where water can get to them.

There is no mention of this cable in any of the owner's manuals I have. It goes through the floor but unfortunately I can't look from under the trailer without opening the underbelly which I'd like to avoid if possible.

Bill
I have the exact same cable with connectors under my J-Cube's of my 2015 32TSBH as well. If you look under the slide out you can see where those wires come through the floor. I never traced them out or tried to see what they were or what voltage they are.

As a side note to my previous comment I purchased my trailer brand new. I have been assuming that they used that space in the floor as a splice point for those wires. What Jayco would do such a thing under where a child is most likely to sleep is mind boggling. Why didn't Jayco just secure them in a slim junction box against the wall ? Granted they may be low voltage but low voltage wiring can still cause fires as well.

Hard to say but could they be speaker wires. Is the unit used. If so maybe they are there for a gaming system

Also wondering if that chassey is used in a different model and that instead of being a bunk house it could of been used for a queen bed slide. They may pre wire the Chassey in the beginning like a car. They could be there for the 12 v. reading lights or a 12 volt outlet next to the queen bed

I would check it and see if it's 12V. If there is only 1 wire in each Scotch lock then it's a cheap way to replace a wire nut. But it works fine. If you have something else that's 12V you would like to install in that area you can use these wires.

Hi,
Others had great advice. I suggest you call Jayco support and ask them if they having a wiring schematic. We just purchased a Jayco last year and asked for all of the plumbing/electrical schematics and they were delivered in less than 24 hours.
