Domestic replacement?

What residential refrigerators have been used in place of the Dometic in a travel trailer?

My daughter & son in law bought a used 2003 Keystone Cougar on Saturday and it seems the fridge may be toast. Freezer is nice and cold, but refrigerator part is not cooling.

Thoughts on replacing with a residential that will fit in place??

Obviously it's a different unit.

A few have done it. The biggest drawback is not being able to run it on propane when you're without shore power. You could wire up an inverter to power it for short periods of time.

It won't be an easy fix but it has been done.

RV fridge cooling units are fairly easy to replace. The cooling unit is mounted on the back of the fridge, so it's just a matter of pulling the fridge out of the wall and then remove the cooling unit and replace. Lot cheaper than a new fridge.
