Electrical Connections

Pardon the naive question but I am a newbie. I am looking for parks to visit with my new Jayco Feather 29L 30amp and I have a question in regards to the electrical connections at parks. Mine is 30amp and I see that parks have 30 and 50amp sites available. Do sites have both connections on each pad or would I need a converter from 50 to 30amp if all that was available were 50amp? Also what is the best available method for cleaning out the sewer tanks and lines after I first use them?

Welcome to the Jayco forums.

All CG's have different electrical box layouts and amp service combinations, so I carry a 30amp female to 50amp male adapter like this one just in case: http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...h-handle/48858

For TT tank usage at a full hookup CG, keep your black tank valve closed during use (use plenty of water) until it's full, then empty. Prior to leaving a full hookup CG I will empty the black tank and use my high pressure black rinse feature to clean the tank, close the valve, and then I will pour in a bucket of sudsy dish soap water (via the toilet) that will slosh around until the next camping trip. If you don't have a black tank rinser, just fill the tank with some water (via the toilet flush) and empty. The grey tank valve(s) can be left open when at a full hookup CG, but I like to keep them closed until they are full. I always empty the black tank first (then close the valve), then the grey tanks (dirty tanks first).

Not sure what "lines" you are referring to, but your manual tells you how to sanitize your fresh water tank and water lines with bleach (I do every spring and fall).

Many sites that have 50 amp service also have 30 amp as well on the pedastal. If for some reason 50 amp is all that is available you would need a 50 to 30 amp adapter because the prongs are different on the connectors..




As for the black tank, use lots of water, add some before you use the tank. Try not to dump the tank unless it is at least one half full. If not add some before you dump. IMO water is the secret to avoiding clogs. You can backflush the tank at the dumpstation with a backflushing device that attaches to the dump valve drain if you do not have a built in tank rinser.

I too cary one. We stay mostly at state parks here and most have both 30 and 50. Where at in Schertz?

You will find as you move around that you will encounter all manner of power configurations. You will quickly learn which adapters you need to carry to be prepared for any situation. Also you will likely want to carry a extra water hose for the times that the cg water supply is just out of reach of your regular hose.

This is one of the things that make camping fun.
