Electrical issues

We have a 2017 Jayco x23b. My inside lights and awning and slide, basically everything but the plug outlets, will not work. The last time we used it, the battery went dead and now seems like it won't charge even while plugged up to electricity. Could the inverter have been blown or is there another reason? Should the lights work if the battery is removed and just using the plug (because they don't)

It would be the CONVERTER not the INVERTER. Have you checked the breaker for the converter? There is also a main fuse for the converter.

In the main breaker panel. Should be right by the fuses.

Sounds like a dead battery.
12 volt TT lamps usually won't work unless a 12 volt battery is hooked up.

X2 on a bad battery. Once you run a battery down, they are usually junk after that. Everything that is not working is the 12V side, pointing to the battery. Too much work for the Convertor to try and charge a dead battery.

I wonder if a ground fault outlet that was in the series is tripped.

Even with a bad battery the lights should still work unless the converter is off or has a blown fuse.

I assume that your Jayco is similar to mine. By plug outlets, I assume that you mean the 115V AC receptacles. If there's power there, there is power to the power panel. The power panel is a black steel panel beneath the stove. This has two sides, the 115v side and the 12v side. If you have the camper plugged in to AC power, you should have 12V. Open the lid to the power panel and inspect the breakers. If your converter breaker is tripped and the battery is dead, you will have no 12v power.

Assuming the breaker is not tripped, you really need to troubleshoot this yourself or have someone do this for you. It's pretty simple to take a voltmeter and check the fuses on the 12V side. If everything is off, the main 12V fuses are likely blown. As I recall, there are two of these, 40A at the top of the 12V fuse row. If one or both are blown, you need to replace them. If they again blow, there is a problem with a short in your wiring somewhere.

the converter is 120-volt breaker., fuses are 12 volt.

No power

Check your owner's manual. They call the power panel a "Load Center". In my manual, it's on page 81.

My panel has the breakers and fuses vertical, photo attached. The left side is AC. The breakers are black. If blown, the black lever will be to the left. My power converter is the bottom breaker, 15A, as indicated in the breaker listing.

The two main DC breakers are red and have the number 40 on them.

You can find a blown fuse by removing it and looking at the fuse wire. If you can find a good ground, you can test them with a voltmeter with a fine tip. Just touch the exposed lead on each end of the fuse and you should find 12v power. There is a ground behind this panel, a bare copper wire going to a metal terminal block with a bunch of ground wires attached. Don't go looking for it if you are uncomfortable working with electrical stuff.

Hello Djuana, Have you found your issue yet?

On a 23B, the The 12V fuses, 120V Circuit Breakers, and the converter are all in the same box. Along the back wall under the back bunk. It is a black box. press on the door and it will pop open. It is a dark spot, so a flashlight will be helpful.

Couple things to look for.

Tripped circuit breaker. Being you have no 12V power at all even when connected to shore, this is most likely the issue. Easiest thing to do it flip them all off and back on one by one. Even if you had not battery on board, if you are connected to shore power, the converter will provide power for all the systems.

12V fuses, being you have NO 12 power at all this probably not your issue. You can check your main fuses, there are two. One is a reverse polarity fuse, it will pop if you connect the battery up backwards (even for a micro second). The other is the load fuse. There is also an inline fuse at the battery.

Could have a bad Converter. Usually they just do not die, they make noise a lot of fan noise first.

Personally start with circuit breaker.
