Electrical question

When ever I plug my 2012 Jayco 29RLDS into a GFI outlet as soon as I turn on the refrigerator it pops the GFI plug. If I plug into a plug that is not a GFI it works fine. Any idea what to look for or at.

Sounds like the ground is reversed on the fridge? Is the fridge plugged in, or hard wired? If it's plugged in, then the outlet may be wired backwards.

Well I should have said as soon as I plug in the power and the refrig is on, So I turned off the refrig and plugged in to a GFI and it still tripped the GFI. So I guess there is a bare or loose wire somewhere.

Do you have a 110VAC GFCI outlet tester? May have gone bad?

Smile Gfi

I have had several of those outlets be defective and having a tester is a good way to know where the problem is! skyking

I plugged it into 3 different GFI outlets at different places, 1 at the RV lot and 2 at my house on different circuits. Actually the first time I brought it home in 2012 I plugged it in to an outlet on my front porch and it tripped it so I moved the plug to my garage thinking the one on the porch was not enough amps, and it worked, but I didn't realize at the time the plug in the garage was not a GFI outlet. So in hind site it has been this way since new. Anyway, I guess when I get back from this trip I will try and look for a bare or loose wire.
