Electrical wires burning

I have a 2015 Jayco Jayflight 2_BHSW and when I turn on my AC the wires inside the electrical breaker box under the oven are burnt and even start to burn and spark. Is this a known issue? Could it be a bad ground? Any ideas on how to fix it?

Welcome to the forum.

Have an electrician check it! And, no, not a known issue reported on this forum.

Time to call an Electrician and be done with it. It's what you don't know that will hurt you.
PS. Don't park it next to the house!

Make sure they're tight If you feel confident. I would bet they're loose on the breaker.

Loose Connection

My guess like the one above is that the screw holding the wire in the breaker is loose. Check all screws in the breaker box area. Power off of course.

Welcome aboard with your first post, just wish it was not for this reason.

There was a post a week or so ago regarding a newer MH, I think it was a Seneca, that the wires burned behind the fuse box, and caused smoke damage.

I think this might be only the second post on the subject I can recall. There have been a lot of posts many years ago (~2012-13??) about a lot of loose wire connects behind the fuse box. I know when I added a circuit, I checked the terminals and there was a number of loose connections.

A 2015 should be out warranty, but I would still contact Jayco with your vin number and let them know.

Sounds like you will need a little bit of rewire, and verify all the terminals are tight.

As to fixing it. Hard to say without a few images. You might be able to cut the wires back, and install a new junction box, and splice in some new wires, check all the terminals on the fuse box and your probably good to go. I would also inspect entire the converter/fuse box for any other potential damage.

Good Luck, keep us up to date

If you are not really comfortable with doing wiring get professional help. Which may not be a dealer but an electrician.

The AC wiring in an RV is the same as a house in essence.

I did see this quote from an electrical help page

"Loose electrical connections cause multiple problems in appliances, heat being the most common one. ... This resistance dissipates power in the form of heat when current flows through it. Even a resistance as low as 5 ohms can produce more than enough heat to burn up the connection and surrounding wires."

Some of the wires should be replaced! Any sign of burning or discoloration indicates the wire insulation is degraded and subject to cracking or breaking off with possible shorts and fires.
Maybe the breakers also.

RVs burn like roman candles, get it professionally fixed ASAP

What they all said and don't delay.

Keep ac off the rig until it's checked out.

Don’t run the AC. The wires were loose, and will need to be stripped back to a clean spot and re-connected TIGHT. If burned too far back, new wires will need to be spliced or pulled full length.
