Eternabond or caulk?

If my roof has only a few small cracks in the caulk, should I use eternabond over the top of that (pre-clean first), or just more good caulk?

I think eternabond is a good quick fix. If you are going to caulk , then I think you are supposed to remove old caulk first, then apply new..

I think...

If the cracks are in the caulking around utilities in the roof, Dicor Self Leveling Caulk is what should be used. But any old, loose caulking should be removed. Then clean the old caulk and the surrounding area with alcohol. (Directions are on the Dicor tube.) That is the recommended caulk for the EPDM membrane roofs.

For vertical surfaces, you can use Dicor non-sag caulk.

Both of these caulks are designed for RV use - they will flex with the movement of panels, seams, etc and will stand up to the elements for several years.

You can get both through Camping World. I go over my trailer every spring and make caulking repairs to any suspicious areas. When it comes to water intrusion - better safe than sorry!

Dicor Self-Leveling Lap Sealant - White - Dicor 501LSW-1 - Roof Maintenance & Repair - Camping World

Dicor Non-Sag Lap Sealant - White - Dicor 551LSW-1 - Roof Maintenance & Repair - Camping World

There's a short video at the bottom of the above web pages that shows and explains how to make repairs.

Dicor is excellent but eventually will have to be replaced again. Eternabond, applied properly, is pretty much a permanent seal.

Eternabond says: I added the bold

For use on virtually all roofs, RoofSeal/OneStep features a
UV stable backing that is available in Black, Gray, Tan and
White. With the exception of surface prep, RoofSeal/OneStep
is a one-step permanent repair system for virtually all
roof types, and roof accessories.
RoofSeal/OneStep creates
a waterproof, moisture, and air tight barrier with no
additional sealing required. RoofSeal/OneStep remains
flexible to temperatures as low as -70° F making it virtually
impossible to thermally shock the seam causing a leak.

Oh...kay. That is disturbing. From What is Virtual? Webopedia

virtual

Not real. The term virtual is popular among computer scientists and is used in a wide variety of situations. In general, it distinguishes something that is merely conceptual from something that has physical reality. For example, virtual memory refers to an imaginary set of locations, or addresses, where you can store data. It is imaginary in the sense that the memory area is not the same as the real physical memory composed of transistors. The difference is a bit like the difference between an architect's plans for a house and the actual house. A computer scientist might call the plans a virtual house. Another analogy is the difference between the brain and the mind. The mind is a virtual brain. It exists conceptually, but the actual physical matter is the brain.
The opposite of virtual is real, absolute, or physical.
