Extend our bed / mattress?

We just took delivery of a Jayco 27DSRL. Our mattress seems a bit short. Is there a relatively easy way to extend the bed / mattress about 6 inches?
Thank you.

There are many posts on this. What we did was purchase a standard queen topper from Costco, placed it on top of the Jayco "Denver Mattress", then put a mattress pad over the whole thing. Love it - got a full sized queen (our floor plan has the entertainment center at the foot of the bed where there was a wasted 6 inches). Only caution is get something flexible/light enough so you can still lift the bed foot to access that storage.

Check out this video on YouTube http://youtu.be/0heCY0IMdic. Jayco's sister brand, Starcraft, supplies these with some of their floorplans and the foam bolster is upholstered the same as the mattress.

Wish I had seen this video back a couple of years ago when I had a Queen Short in my 22FB. Good posting tbwill!

I replaced the original camper mattress with a standard queen mattress in my 27DSRL. I used a piece of plywood that was long enough to allow me to screw it into the 2x2 framing under the lift door. I put a 2x4 underneath and across the foot end of the extension. I added a 2x4 block at the 2 corners at the foot of the bed. I then drilled holes in the blocks and put closet rod in the holes for "legs". The end of the bed is strong enough to sit on and the added plywood provides a surface to keep the sheets tucked in at the foot. I am 6-4 and DW is 5-10 - we needed the length. The caveat is that it is too heavy to stay raised on its own. One person holds while the other works under it.

I basically did the same thing. I added struts where there were none to hold the end up for access. Took several trips to Camping World to end up with ones that were strong enough, but not too strong. Nothing better than sleeping on a regular size high quality queen bed just like you'd have at home.

I have the same problem. My feet hang off the end of the &%#$@ mattress! Have to do what some are saying on here...get a regular mattress.
