I replaced the original camper mattress with a standard queen mattress in my 27DSRL. I used a piece of plywood that was long enough to allow me to screw it into the 2x2 framing under the lift door. I put a 2x4 underneath and across the foot end of the extension. I added a 2x4 block at the 2 corners at the foot of the bed. I then drilled holes in the blocks and put closet rod in the holes for "legs". The end of the bed is strong enough to sit on and the added plywood provides a surface to keep the sheets tucked in at the foot. I am 6-4 and DW is 5-10 - we needed the length. The caveat is that it is too heavy to stay raised on its own. One person holds while the other works under it.
