Extended Warranty

Looking for recommendations for extended warranties. Which one do you have and would you buy from them again?

If you do a search, you will find several threads on this subject.

I like the advice of whatever an extended warranty is going to cost per month, just put that amount in an account to pay for any repairs that may pop up.

I have a "Forever Warranty" on my J Flight 23RB. It was included with the purchase of my trailer. I have no idea whether it is, or will be any good. It's mostly covers appliances, etc.

In my case, I didn't pay anything for it, just have to have it inspected by a real RV repair facility once per year, and send in a completed form, and include the inspection "invoice".

My dealer doesn't charge for the inspection. My only cost is towing the trailer from Richmond, VA to Raleigh, NC once a year.

Depending on what your time is worth, that is a expense on top of what one would cost even if free. It's a good thing that you have not needed to find out if it helps in the long run.

Same ??? Same answer - NO! On this one the answer is pretty much universal. While there are a few that like them, an overwhelming majority see them for what they are, pure profit for the dealer or whoever sells them.

NO NO NO

We weren't even offered one. Have purchased them in the past, and made use of them.

The only cost is the gas to pull the trailer down and drag it back. Being retired, my time is pretty cheap now a days.

Take the money they charge you... put it in an interest earning account - use the account to pay for repairs. Keep the rest of the savings at the end of the 3rd year and buy yourself a nice gift.

We should have followed our own advice now... regrets!

I would agree if one has to purchase the extended warranty. In my case, it came with the trailer. The only proviso is it needs to be inspected yearly, and proof of that inspection must be sent to Forever Warranty folks. If in any year, the proof of inspection isn't sent in, the Forever Warranty is no longer valid.

My dealer does the inspection for free.

That yearly inspection usually costs a couple hundred and the warranty will be invalidated if it is not done. Add that to the cost over time.

Its's just a decision that one has to make with many variations.

I would say, if you feel like you want and can afford it, go get it and let us know how it works out. I have never had an rv or auto purchase that the dealer did not offer the insurance, even on an old rig so I am thinking it must still be a money maker for these aftermarket insurers.

Read the fine print on what they cover, they are in business to make money not give it away. Google the company and read reviews posted by customers, most of these plans have to many fish hooks, and sorry that isn't covered.
