Question Extending Short Queen Platform

We recently purchased a 2003 24RB JayFlight that has a short queen mattress with plenty of room for a standard queen mattress. I'm looking for the best way to extend the platform without making it too heavy to access the under-bed storage. I've searched and been unable to find this topic. Does anyone have experience with this?

Build a simple platform to hold the extra length. If it is short because of when the slide is in there are folding mattress that convert to a couch on Amazon that I use with a folding platform . My set up is different than yours so I don’t think my platform design would be of use to you.
