Exterior tongue light

We have a 2016 Jayco 25BHS. The button style toggle switch for the tongue light mounted on the front cap is covered with a soft semi transparent cover to keep water out. That cover is a POS! We had it replaced under warranty because it simply rotted. The replacement is now rotted and useless and the warranty has expired. Is there a solution for this? Something that will last? A replacement switch with a water proof cover of any kind?

Do you keep your tongue Jack covered when parked? The jacks are covered but the covers are not waterproof. A 5 gallon bucket works great. I would guess it is a combination of weather and uv that is destroying the switch cover.

Thanks for the reply! The switch I am referring to is
Mounted on the front cap of the trailer. Not the tongue jack itself.

I put a piece of electrical tape over mine. It was rotting also on my 2014 Flight 26BH.

I recently replaced mine with clear cover as well as it was toast, replaced it with this one instead and works well.

I’m intrigued!! I haven’t removed the old switch and cover yet. My question is this. Is this switch a plug and play or will I have to perform a modification?

On mine I just removed the 2 screws holding the plate on, gently pull the the plate away to release the butyl tape, compress the 2 prongs on the side of the switch that hold the switch in and remove it, snap in the new switch the 2 wires have female blade connectors on them, slide them onto your new switch reapply new butyl tape put your screws back in and done, hope this helps.
