Extra water - solutions?

Hi there, it was my first time to use an RV to camp last weekend. I usually camp with my tent and carry lots of gear in the truck but with the camper it was so much fun and things are organized in the RV.

The only down side of the trailer (feather SLX) is the small size of water tank (20+6)

I want to carry extra gallons of water and fill the tank using a pump. my thoughts are to make a stand infant of the trailer just being the propane gas to carry at least 4 bottles of water (5 gallon each)

will it be very heavy on the tongue? is there any other workable solution?

Thanks in advance

Are you that far from civilization that you can’t fill up a water jug? Also where are you dumping the extra grey water.

The tongue wouldn't be my first choice for a place to put 166 pounds of water. Assuming that even with the additional weight you don't exceed the maximum tongue weight for your tow vehicle, you'd still have a situation where your tongue weight regularly varies by 166 pounds. My first choice would be to locate it over the trailer axles. Or, somewhere between the two axles in my tow vehicle. Or split it between both places.

Those Feather SLX's as I recall do not have a heavy built tongue weight. You do not mention your TV. If possible I would consider placing the jugs in the TV, well forwards of the rear wheels.

As to off load the jugs. my outside shower is near the gravity fill port. I remove the shower head, and place the shower hose into the gravity fill port. I flip the antifreeze valves at the pump, place the antifreeze tube, into my water jug, turn on the pump and open the cold water shower valve, and transfer the water to the tank. It is an easy and clean process.

We tried looking into electric pumps, large water bladders that go in the box of truck, but ended up going with 4 plastic jugs similar to these:

I filter the water with an inline filter while filling them and they are surprisingly convenient to dump into the freshwater tank. Just get the short spout into fresh water fill and pull the vapour lock plug and weight drops by half in 10 seconds and empty the 6 gallons takes 20 to 30 seconds. We have an 84 gallon tank and still run out of water depending on who we are camping with. Even when we are boondocking, we get in the TV to go somewhere every 3 or 4 days and fill the water jugs on the way back to the camper. The extra 25 gallons allows us our outdoor hot showers etc. during that time.

I just use 7-gallon aqua totes. I travel with them inside the trailer over the axles. When we get there I put them in the Truck bed. I just use a tube and siphon pump to transfer the water to the tank. Once the siphon starts, it empties itself.

That's probably the safest.
Just remember water's 8 pounds per gallon.

I use the 7-gallon aqua jugs as well, 4 of them, and a battery powered kerosene pump. Drop it by the tank, put the pump in the jug abd fresh water tank, turn it on, come back 10 minutes later and 7 gallons of water is refilled. Repeat as neccesary.
