Filling the Fresh Water Tank

We recently purchased a new Jayflight SLX camper. We are fairly new to RVing. I went to fill the water tank and noticed it would only fill if the hose had a lot of pressure. I looked inside the fill port and noticed the pipe curves up before dropping into the tank. So how am I supposed to fill it with when I don't have a hose with pressure? For instance when I do my yearly sanitizing how would I get a mixture of chlorine solution into the tank before filling it the rest of the way with water?

Sorry. I don't have an answer, but I'm sure there will be an answer for you shortly.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new trailer!
I'm sure that others will log in soon and give their advice, but in the mean time, I seem to remember a recent post about a similar issue. If you do a search here on the forum you might be able to find some posts about this topic.

What was done was that they cut the fill hose shorter to take the uphill out of the fill hose.

Take it back to dealer and have them fix it under warranty.

One Solution

Jayco seems to be making new trailers with the fresh water tank fill tubing going uphill in the fresh water gravity fill connection. I'm not sure why they are doing this, maybe to prevent spillage when going around corners? Please see the discussion a few days ago titled Gravity Fill. There are some suggested solutions there. I offered an easy solution in that post by explaining how to make a very easy tool for adding the sanitizing solution and another for very easily creating a tool for filling the fresh water tank when you have one of the newer trailers with the uphill gravity fill channel. Both tools are very easy to make and work like charm. Let me know if my instructions need some clarification in case you want to make these tools. Good luck!
