Filling water tanks

My trailer has the second water tank option. When I'm filling the tanks, does one tank fill first and then the "overflow" goes into the second tank, or do they both essentially fill up "at the same time?"

Thanks

D

My 2007 Octane had 2 fresh water tanks and when the first filled it overflowed into the second filling it. Both are full when water runs out of the second tank overflow. You should have 2 white drain valves to drain the tanks too. With both valves open start filling and which ever valve you have water coming out first is the first tank. I hope this answers your question.

My trailer has 2 water tanks. They are connected at/near the bottom so they fill simultaneously.

There are 2 overflow tubes and, when filling, water flows out of both overflow tubes at virtually the same time.

Dave, we have a 2012 19RD without the thermal pkg. so we can see the tanks. And as oldmanAZ said they both fill simultaneously, with a bridge hose at the bottom of the tanks.

If one was to fill first and then overflow into the second you would need a valve system to empty both tanks using the water pump. All I've ever seen had the two tanks connected at the bottom so they filled and emptied simultaneously.

I put plugs in the overflow hoses. I couldn't get them to fill completely. The water just ran out the overflow. There is a old school screened vent hole right next to where you fill the water. I couldn't believe the difference it made! And now I don't have to worry about water being siphoned out of the tank going down the road.

Have you ever looked inside the tt, where the gravity fill port is. On ours the little old school screen is plugged. It is not connected to anything.

I tried but it's behind the wall somewhere. The underbelly is sealed. So I started filling the tanks and checked for air coming out the vent. Luckily it's connected and when the tanks were full I got water out of the vent.
