I'm not sure the finance company would know but I could be wrong.

I would do lots of shopping for insurance. At least where we are insurance through the lender is usually much more expensive than what you can find on your own. Just my experience, others may have had a different experience.

They are likely just wanting your insurance business. I would lump it on the same policy as your vehicles. At all cost shop around.

thanks norty1 I actually looked closer at their best offer. Ironically it was through state farm who I have home and car insurance through and in the fine print they showed homeowner and car insurance discounts. I called state farm directly for a quote, it was same the price and coverage was identical. I will just go through my state farm agent who I have used for years.

Be sure to check what is covered. If the trailer is totalled you probably would have to go to your home owner's coverage for contents. I also cancel my liability and collision when it's in storage.

I would do lots of shopping on finance companies too.

We ended up going through our credit union. Shorter term, but WAY less interest.

If it was the finance company that called to offer you insurance, it was most likely life insurance, so if you were to die the trailer would be paid off.

First --

OP mentioned Finance Company, doubt he can go 1 minute with out collision/comp insurance whether in storage or not.

Second --

My TT insurance is ~$200 a year, it is absolutely not worth my time nor the risk to cancel portions of the coverage while in storage. It would be just my luck some kid will be playing in the storage yard and hurt themselves on my TT. A TT, like a boat or pool, would fall into the attractive nuisance category and I could get sued. Not likely, but possible, and to save any portion of $200 it doesn't seem like a good idea -- it would cost considerably more than $200 to defend this case and I have way to much to lose.

If your storage place is the kind that puts you TT/RV away for you then maybe dump the collision, but if folks are spotting their own equipment then I would want coverage if case someone else damaged my TT and simply went on down the road with out saying anything,

How much are you saving by canceling Liability and Collision while in storage?

Is it worth it?

I have State Farm. Your TV policy provides liability and most other coverage. The TT coverage is for damage to the TT. State Farm covers my stick house and most everything else I own. If you are happy with your TV coverage you should probably stick with them.
