First Spring

Hi all,

It's finally spring in New England and I'm thinking about pulling the adco cover off my beast after a long winter. Since this is my first winter owning a TT, I figured I'd ask if there is anything I should be doing. What things do you recommend for spring maintenance, especially year one. When I bought my TT! They said I should repack the bearings so I'll probably do that.

While we're on the subject, any spring TV advice would also be appreciated. Nissan recommends new tranny fluid every 15k, which seems like overkill, but I guess. Anything else worth thinking about?

Assuming that the plumbing was filled with Antifreeze, you need to unbypass the syphon hose, then pump fresh water through lines.

Many folks also then sanitize the tanks and lines. ( search for this process using bleach )

Fresh charge on the battery and check distilled water levels

Change battery in smoke dectector

Check Air in all the tires

A little WD40 in the break away switch and on all the cranks

Unbypass hot water tank ( after sanitizing )

He's right on all accounts. I always use my on board pump to pressurize the first time out after a long winter, it's the best plumbing leak detector you have.

Every 15k miles??? Does Nissan also recommend an oil change with each fuel fill up? My daughter got a Nissan pickup for high school graduation and drove it for nearly 15 years when the neighbors started to poke fun. I had the transmission serviced once when we went to visit her. Body went south around 200k, but mechanically it was just beginning to have problems. Maybe the new models are more particular.

That is what they have in the scheduled maintenance book. Personally, I think it's a money grab on their part, trying to get people into the dealerships for service. I did my tranny and transfer case fluids on my pathfinder last spring at 60K, and I think the armada might get the same this year. Overall I've been happy with my Nissans.

All of the above, plus re-torque all the wheel lugs and adjust the air pressure in the tires.
