flat tire changing and coupler lock

Ok--- Two questions-- 1-is it true in the event of a flat on one tire of a tandem axle (Whitehawk 26') just loosen the lugs slightly then either pull or push the trlr. on to lets say a ramp i made of 2x6 or 2x8 material and that will then be sufficient to raise the flat tire off the ground thereby eliminating the need for a jack under the frame rail. 2- on this same trailer i'm having a little difficulty locating a coupler lock to fit this trlr. it's a 26dsrb with what i think it's an atwood coupler. Yes, this is a new venture for me. I drove tractor trailers for a living, and drivers don't change tires on their rigs.So i would appreciate any and all the help i can get.

#1...That's the way I have done it successfully. I carry several (like 12) 2 foot long 2x6's for leveling and for this task, if needed. I stack three high, stair-stepped and drive up on it to get the offending tire off the ground.

X2 on the Trailer Aid. Just check to make sure you have the type of axles that the Trailer Aid will work on. I understand that there are some axle systems out there that allow enough up and down travel that the TA will not raise the flat off the ground.

Here is the type of hitch lock i use.
Thats not my hitch but i think you can see what it looks like. Any trailer shop will have them.

It is the only kind that I could find to fit around the coupler style on my JayFlight. I got it at Cabelas.

Thanks for the feedback--- here's a pic of my coupler (I think I did it right) It looks like the pic from Texas A&M was the same one I was considering. I'm going to try a few 2x6's and stack them. I'll just put a 15 or 20 deg. angle on the end of each one and then stack them to create a continuous ramp effect. I'll let you know how this all works out.

Yours is the same coupler that I have (and I think it on all bigger Jaycos). The lock is the only one that I could find that would fit. It does the trick... my trailer hasn't been stolen! :hihi:

Looks like the same or similar to one I saw on E-trailer site.If yours fits and you have the same coupler then I'm off to Cabellas. Keep you posted.
